Mission:

Our mission at Checkpoint Inspections is to provide buyers and sellers with the information necessary to evaluate the physical condition of the property. This is and has been our only business since 1985.

Scope of Inspection:

Your Checkpoint Inspection will include a visual examination of the major components of the home, from top to bottom. The Checkpoint report conforms to the CREIA and ASHI Standards of Practice.

A Checkpoint Inspection is an unbiased evaluation of the visible structure and systems of the home. Simply, an examination of the current physical condition of the property. Your inspection will describe materials and their condition, expected service life, and structural integrity. The inspection will also address potentially hazardous conditions and deferred maintenance.

Our detailed report divides the property into 11 sections. A brief description of the items covered are:

1. Grounds: driveways, sidewalks, fencing, retaining walls, decks
2. Exterior/Foundation: exterior walls, basements, crawlspaces
3. Roofs: materials skylights, gutters, downspouts, attics
4. Plumbing: waterheaters, supply lines, waste lines, pressure
5. Heating: wall, floor, central, ducts, visible components
6. Electrical/Cooling: main, sub panels, GFCI, receptacles, central cooling
7. Interiors: doors, windows, floors, fireplaces
8. Garage: doors, openers, floors, fireplaces
9. Kitchen: appliances, plumbing, cabinets, countertops
10. Bathrooms: showers, tubs, fixtures
11. Pool/Spa: pools and spas are an option

Your Checkpoint Inspection report is delivered on-site, with a personal consultation at the time of the inspection. Photo illustrated reports are available upon request and are delivered via the Internet.

Previous Experience:

" I did not learn this trade from a correspondence course, I grew up on construction sites in Southern California. My dad was a builder so I had the opportunity to learn the building business from the ground up. After receiving my contractors license ( B-1 # 439300 ), I was active in the construction industry supervising the planning and construction of several residential building projects, as well as rehabilitation work on existing homes. I believe my background was a great education prior to beginning my training as a home inspector."

"In 1985, I went to work for Economy Inspection Service, the then largest home inspection business in California. After inspecting homes for Economy for several years, I opened Checkpoint Inspection in 1994."
